Places to Go / Things to Do

Take the ferry from either Mallaig or Arisaig to the Islands. A great way to see some wonderful wildlife including, if you are lucky enough, minke whales, basking sharks, porpoise, dolphins and a good variety of sea birds.

Take a day trip as a foot-passenger on the Cal-Mac Ferry over to Skye and visit the Clan Donald Centre at Armadale.

Take the Steam Train from Fort William to Mallaig and enjoy one of the most scenic rail journeys – prior booking is necessary.

Hill walking – Join the local Ranger on one of his guided walks or simply plan your own route and enjoy the surrounding area.

Fishing – permits are available for fishing on Loch Morar, or why not try fishing from the rocks at the site.

Golf Traigh Golf Course, is situated just under 1 mile from the site. Clubs can be hired at the clubhouse.

Ardnamurchan Light House – take a drive down the scenic road to visit the most westerly point on the British Mainland.

Bus Service – Leave the car and take the local bus service to Mallaig, Morar, Arisaig and Fort William, the bus stops at the road-end. See the Shiel Buses Timetable
